Post-tensioning (P.T.) steel strand is installed in concrete structures in mono-strand or multi-strand applications.
Adding post-tensioning steel to concrete structures greatly increases the structure span. The P.T. strand is installed in beams, girders, and slabs prior to the concrete pour. After the concrete is poured and sufficiently cured, the P.T. strands are then stressed, which is followed by form removal. All of these steps are sequenced and controlled by engineering design requirements and concrete strength at each step..
The P.T. is installed per approved drawings.
